Last September I had the great privilege of styling Karens hair for her wedding day,
Karens sister Trish Harrington is a well know makeup artist in Kenmare, I have worked alongside Trish at many weddings so it was an extra honour for Trish to recommend me for her sisters wedding.
I could not resist sharing this uniquely styled wedding, I think you will all agree Karen looks outstanding!
I contacted Karen to ask her how the story unfolded and here’s the low-down!!
Where did you both meet?
I am from Kenmare and was working in the Nike store in Killarney and Mark who is from Cork was working in Miltown and used to stop in to the shop on his way home on a Friday and he started calling in more frequently rarely bought anything tho!!
How did the proposal happen?
New Year’s Eve morning 2022 – he was bringing me breakfast in bed but I wasn’t hungry so he just did it there and then in bed. I didn’t speak for about 10 minutes with shock.
What made you decide to get married in Dromquinna? I am from Kenmare and I love how everything is in the one place. The ceremony, photos, reception and your drinks reception guests can watch your photos also the vibe is there all day and it’s just a magical part of the world.
What was the highlight of the wedding day? Putting on my dress, going to the venue and walking up the aisle I will never forget it. I am an emotional person but I felt so calm and relaxed it was just amazing and once that dress was on and everything came to together hair etc and seeing everyone it was just magical. The only time I cried the whole morning of the wedding is when I saw my hair and I’m not just saying that the videographer even got it on video.
Advice to others getting married? Do not stress. The small things do not matter. Literally they don’t. Enjoy the process because it will be over before you know it. Everything will fall into place. And don’t listen to anyone else it’s your day do what you want.
What would you do differently (if anything)? Absolutely nothing
